4 issues that need to be paid attention to when growing Orchids

Archidaceae, in the hearts of Chinese people, has almost reached the point of personification. It means elegant and noble. It is used to praise beautiful things and people. Orchidaceae has conquered generations of flower lovers with its remote fragrance and beautiful foliage.

In China, there are more than 1000 kinds of Orchidaceae recorded, of which more than 680 species are native to Yunnan, China, accounting for more than 60% of the total. This is because of the unique climate and environment of Yunnan, which is very suitable for the growth of Orchidaceae. Yunnan’s Orchidaceae is famous at home and abroad. Some of them can be sold for several hundred thousand yuan.

Ailan people are proud to have a pot of Yunnan Orchidaceae, but most of us are not professional flower breeding experts. Ailan relies on a simple love. The reason why Yunnan orcidaceae is so beautiful and vigorous is due to the local climate and the care of horticulturists. After ordinary people buy orcidaceae back, if it is not properly maintained, it will not only make the beloved Orchidaceae that has been bought back with a lot of money grow uglier, but may even make it “acclimatized” and “immortal”.

What should we pay attention to in the plant of Yunnan orcidaceae? Now let’s talk about the four basic aspects of Yunnan orcidaceae breeding.

1. Soil planted with Orchidaceae

Yunnan orcidaceae likes acid and is afraid of alkali, so it should be planted in acid soil instead of high alkaline soil. It can be mixed with rotten soil in proportion to be used for gardening. On the market, there are special Orchidaceae plant soil, which can be purchased directly by friends who are afraid of trouble.

2.The ambient temperature at which the orcidaceae is placed.

Ochidaceae in Yunnan likes a warm climate, and the appropriate temperature for growth is between 15 and 25 degrees. In the cold winter, the tolerable low temperature is – 5-8 degrees, but it has basically stopped growing and entered the dormancy period. Therefore, in order to prevent freezing injury, it can be maintained at 3-8 degrees to improve the safe overwintering coefficient. In spring, summer and autumn, it can be put on the balcony or open place, but in winter, it should be moved to the greenhouse in time to prevent the pot soil from freezing.

3.The moisture content of the soil in the Orchidaceae pot

The reason why many people think that orcidaceae is difficult to raise is because of the problem of watering. Many Orchidaceae have been “drowned” artificially. Because Orchidaceae is a bulb rhizome that can store a lot of water, it can’t tolerate long-term soil moisture. If the soil continues to be too wet and the pot bottom is well drained, which exceeds the tolerance of Orchidaceae, rotten roots will appear, leading to the death of ochidaceae from yellow leaves to the whole plant.

However, a small number of people know that Orchidaceae is afraid of waterlogging. In order not to let it “wet to death”, they did not water it once for a long time. As a result, Orchidaceae was “thirsty to death”!

Therefore, the key to raising orcidaceae is to keep the soil moisture, and proper drying and wetting is the “secret” of planting good Orchidaceae. Too dry and too wet are not conducive to the growth of ochidaceae, so the best way is to be wet.

The water requirement of Orchidaceae was different in different growth stages. Each variety needs more water during vigorous growth period. When the growth is suspended, water should be controlled, as long as the soil is kept a little moist.

In winter, it is necessary to use water which is close to the temperature of the environment. It is not allowed to pour too cold water. In the continuous rainy season, avoid the continuous rain.

4.The illuminance of the place where the Orchidaceae pot is placed.

Most orcidaceae are afraid of direct sunlight. Orcidaceae likes semi shade environment, so it needs shade in spring, summer and autumn. Family Orchidaceae potted plants can be placed on the windowsill and balcony without direct sunlight. If it is necessary to put it in the sun, set bamboo curtains and other things to shade it from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Let it be exposed to the sun after 6 p.m.

In winter, sunshine can be increased accordingly. Cymbidium sinense was the strongest shade tolerant variety, followed by Cymbidium ensifolium, Cymbidium faberi and Cymbidium goeringii.
